"Think outside the box!"
- Marionette's loading message
Marionette, also known as The Puppet, is a unlockable character in FNaF World. They are based off The Marionette from FNaF 2.
Appearance |
The Marionette has an almost identical appearance to their counterpart from the core series, but smaller. They sport stumps at the end of their legs. Their mask also appears similar to the mask of the Marionette from the core series, but rounder, with small cheeks and red lips. They also have fewer stripes than the core, having a total of 12, versus 28.
In FNaF World |
The Marionette is a playable character in FNaF World. They are unlocked after you fight them in a random encounter. When defeated, the Puppet joins the player side and can be used in a party.
Role In Game |
The Marionette is one of 48 playable characters in FNaF World. They are random chance attacker, of sorts. All of their moves rely on chance to be useful in one way or another.
Prize Ball 2 summons a random attack, which, depending on which move it summons, can be great or terrible.
Mystery Box switches around your current team with random characters, and depending on how good or bad their movesets are, it can be a great or terrible choice.
Esc Key has a very low chance of hitting, but the chance that it does brings at least one instant death for the opposing side, which is as good as it can get.

Trivia |
- The teaser reveals that the Marionette actually has stubby little legs. Before the game release, Marionette was thought to be standing.
- Adventure Marionette appears to be even thinner than their Five Nights at Freddy's 2 counterpart.
- The general "puppet" idea may have come from one of Scott Cawthon's previous titles, possibly from a game called Dark Deception.
- Adventure Marionette also has more circular eyes than their counterpart, likely to give them a more 'cutesy' look.
- Adventure Marionette's name is "Marionette" in game, but the teaser trailer and the second trailer show their name as "Puppet".
- Marionette's move, Mystery Box, may be a reference to the Music Box you have to wind up in FNaF 2.
- The Marionette has fewer counterparts than any other character in the game (being Phantom Marionette and Nightmarrione).
- Their bio from their in-game loading screen is a pun on the saying, "think outside the box".
- This is a reference to them slowly escaping its box from the second game of the core series.
- Oddly, the character's in-game name is referred to as "Marionette", despite the FNaF World trailer saying their name was Puppet.
- This may be to avoid association with the 'puppet-master' mentioned by the 8-bit Fredbear. It could also be to parrellel Nightmarrione, their Five Nights at Freddy's 4 counterpart.
- It was later confirmed by the United State Copyright Catalog that Puppet and Phantom Puppet's official names are Marionette and Phantom Marionette.
- The Marionette is one of the two characters in the game that can float, the other being the Paper Pals. This is a possible reference to how Marionette floats in the Five NIghts at Freddy's 2 minigames. It could also be a reference to marrionetes themselves, which can be suspended in the air by threads.
- Marionette being capable of using the Esc Key attack may be a reference to Five Nights at Freddy's 2, where if the player neglects to wind the music box and lets the Marionette out of its box, they might as well restart the game by pressing esc key on their keyboard.
- All of Maronette's attacks are yellow
